THE LATE

BISHOP ROY COPELAND, SR.

Roy Copeland, Sr. and Beverly Copeland are both natives of Tuskegee, Alabama where they both graduated from Tuskegee Institute High School. In 1969 they were joined in Holy Matrimony and relocated to Detroit Michigan where they lived for twenty five years. Bishop Roy Copeland, Sr. preached the Gospel for over 40 years and Pastoring for over 30 of those years. His preaching assignment took him throughout the United States, Canada, the Caribbean Islands and Africa.

Bishop Copeland’s credentials stem from Moody Bible College in Chicago, Illinois; Detroit Bible College and Urban Bible College School of Religious Studies in Detroit, Michigan where he received a Bachelor of Arts with honors in 1979 and a Bachelors of Divinity in 1984. He was later awarded a Doctor of Divinity in 1996 from Tennessee School of Religious Studies. In September 2007, Pastor Copeland was elevated to the office of Bishop for the Refuge Fellowship of Churches in Lithonia, Georgia and for the State of Alabama. He was the Founder of Roy Copeland Ministries International and 2nd Prelate to Refuge Fellowship of Churches in Lithonia, Georgia, where he served as Assistant to his Pastor, Bishop Miles E. Fowler.

In April 1994, Bishop and First Lady Beverly Copeland both returned to Tuskegee by the leading of the Holy Spirit, to assume the Senior Pastor’s position at Midway Missionary Baptist Church which later was renamed to Jubilee Christian Fellowship International. He and his wife Beverly was married for 49 years and they were combined parents of 13 children, 21 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren.

On November 27, 2018 the Lord called our Bishop home to be with him. Through the many trials he endured for the last 6 years he never stopped believing, he never doubted God and he never gave up hope and he continued to serve God.  He will be deeply missed but his legacy will live on to many generations. He was truly a man of God that loved everyone and the life of Jesus was demonstrated through him.
